
Kano Hisbah to destroy nearly 5,000 bottles of seized beer
Three truckloads of beer, totaling 4,920 bottles, were intercepted in Kano and handed over to the Kano State Hisbah Board for destruction. The seizure was made by the Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) during a night patrol in the metropolis. Abubakar Sharada of KAROTA confirmed the operation in a statement released on January 25, 2024. Kano enforces Sharia law, which prohibits alcohol, and such seizures are part of ongoing efforts to uphold these regulations.
