Sokoto government allocates ₦8.4bn to rebuild central market
The Sokoto State Government has approved ₦8.4 billion for the reconstruction of the Sokoto Central Market, aiming to restore business activity after a fire incident disrupted operations a few years ago. The decision was made during the 16th State Executive Council meeting, with Nasiru Dantsoho announcing the project will be handled by 38 local contractors. Governor Ahmed Aliyu had previously pledged to rebuild the market, which is a major commercial hub in the state. Additional infrastructure and budgetary approvals were also made at the meeting on June 6, 2024.
