NGF announces $6.1m awards for top-performing primary healthcare states
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) will reward states excelling in primary healthcare with a total of $6.1 million. The awards ceremony is set for Friday in Abuja. The initiative, now in its third edition, aims to recognize and strengthen leadership in healthcare delivery.
"It celebrates results, rewards performance, and ultimately delivers better care for our people."
Highlights
- Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq announced the awards, which will recognize 13 states for outstanding and improved healthcare performance.
- The programme is run by the NGF in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health, NPHCDA, UNICEF, and the Gates Foundation.
- Each winning state must reinvest its share of the $6.1 million directly into primary healthcare systems.
- Winners are selected through a rigorous, independent assessment process involving public health experts and civil society.
- The challenge supports commitments under the Seattle Declaration of 2019 and aims to boost accountability and progress in Nigeria’s health sector.
