
Over 2,800 athletes set for next Niger Delta Games
The second Niger Delta Games is expected to feature more than 2,800 athletes from nine states, according to co-chairman Sir Itiako Ikpokpo. The event, organised by the Niger Delta Development Commission, is scheduled for February 2026. Organisers aim to build on the success of last year’s edition and further develop sporting talent in the region. Each state will contribute 270 athletes, with training support at the High Performance Centre in Port Harcourt.
