
Police arrest 12 suspects in Niger for murder and kidnapping
Twelve suspects have been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for alleged involvement in murder, kidnapping, and robbery. Among the victims was Nafiu Mohammed, who was reportedly stabbed to death in Minna. The police also apprehended individuals posing as vigilantes who confessed to forming a gang for criminal activities. Abiodun, the police spokesperson, confirmed ongoing efforts to arrest other fleeing suspects.

- Nafiu Mohammed, 35, was attacked and stabbed to death in the Sabon-Titi area of Maitumbi, Minna.
- On 25th August, 2026, police received a report about the attack and arrested six suspects, including Emmanuel Moses, Lukman Mohammed, Abdullahi Mohammed, Sani Ibrahim, Abdullahi Yusuf (Challo), and Adamu Isyaku.
- Another suspect, Muhammad Sani, is still at large and is believed to be involved in the murder.
- On 23rd August, 2026, police arrested three men—Alhassan Tanko, Basiru Shaibu, and Ishaya Umar—who posed as vigilantes and confessed to kidnapping, armed robbery, and killing at least three victims.
- Police recovered a pump action rifle during a search and are continuing investigations to apprehend other suspects.
