
Six arrested for alleged electricity vandalism in Osun
Six suspects, including four staff of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, have been arrested by the Osun State Police Command for allegedly vandalising electricity installations in Ikirun. The suspects were reportedly caught at the scene while cutting a high-tension electricity pole. According to Abiodun Ojelabi, the police acted on credible intelligence and swiftly apprehended the group. The police have warned against vandalism and assured residents of continued protection of public infrastructure.
What happened
- The arrested suspects include Onabamiji Emmanuel, Bolaji Odusanya, Alimi Akeem, Balogun Kehinde, Oyewo Hammed, and Oladosu Hammed.
- Three of the suspects are IBEDC staff members, one is an IBEDC security personnel, and two are welders.
- Police recovered a cutting machine, a generating set, and a welding machine from the scene.
- Ibrahim Zungura, the Commissioner of Police, has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
- The police urged the public to report suspicious activities and promised to bring offenders to justice.
