OAU celebrates LAUTECH VC for outstanding impact in art and academia
Prof Razaq Kalilu, Vice-Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, has been honoured by Obafemi Awolowo University for his significant contributions to art, scholarship, and leadership. The recognition was part of a Distinguished Alumni Lecture and Reunion organised by the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management. August 12, 2026 marked the event, which also celebrated other notable alumni and included lectures and awards. Prof Kalilu was praised for his pioneering achievements and extensive academic career.

- Prof Razaq Kalilu received the Award of Excellence as a distinguished alumnus of OAU’s Faculty of Environmental Design and Management on August 12, 2026.

- Prof Kalilu was recognised for his academic achievements, leadership, and innovations in art education, including introducing Nigeria’s first Bachelor of Technology in Fine and Applied Arts.

- He has received multiple awards, including the Gold Medal in the 1978–1979 All Africa Painting Contest, and has supervised and examined 165 postgraduate students, including 44 PhDs.
