Power restored to Ogun communities after months-long outage
Residents in several Ogun State communities have had their electricity restored after enduring an extended blackout. The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) acted following a report that highlighted the situation. Community leaders and residents expressed relief and gratitude for the restoration. IBEDC has also promised to repair a second transformer to ensure stable power supply.
What happened
- The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company restored power to communities in the Ogijo area after an 11-month blackout.
- Residents from Freedom Estate, Seidu Central, Seidu Estate, Blessed Estate, Ifesowapo, and Agbajowa confirmed the restoration.
- Joseph Olusoji, Chairman of Freedom Community Development Association, and other residents thanked IBEDC and PUNCH for their roles in resolving the issue.
- Only one of two transformers has been fixed so far; IBEDC has promised to repair the second one to prevent future outages.
- The prolonged outage had previously forced residents to conduct night patrols and affected local businesses.
