
NDLEA destroys cannabis farms and arrests suspects in Edo
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Edo State has destroyed two large cannabis farms and arrested 10 suspected traffickers. The state Commander, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the operations were carried out in different locations, including Ugboku, Igbanke Forest, and Benin City. The raids led to the seizure of thousands of kilograms of cannabis and other illicit substances. The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
What happened
- Mitchell Ofoyeju confirmed the destruction of two cannabis farms totaling 1.851591 hectares, yielding about 4,628.9775 kilograms.
- One suspect, Agholor Elebojie, was apprehended at the first farm, which had an estimated yield of 1,749.26 kilograms.
- The second farm, with an estimated yield of 2,879.7225 kilograms, also had two bags of processed cannabis sativa weighing 12.4 kilograms recovered.
- In a separate operation at Oluku, Kingsley Anigala was arrested with 25.857 kilograms of cannabis and 93 grams of methamphetamine on 14th August, 2026.
- At Abuja Quarters, nine suspects were arrested on 13th August, 2026, with various illicit substances, including cannabis, Loud, Tramadol, Diazepam, Swinol, Danabol, and methamphetamine.
