
Rivers police arrest fake soldier and others for car theft, kidnapping
Several suspects, including a fake soldier, have been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for crimes such as car snatching and kidnapping. Olugbenga Adepoju, the state Commissioner of Police, revealed the arrests and the recovery of weapons and stolen vehicles while briefing newsmen. The suspects were paraded at the Command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt. The police say they remain committed to tackling crime in the state.

- Police recovered 47 firearms, 12 stolen vehicles, 102 rounds of live ammunition, five live cartridges, and 11 cutlasses.
- Three suspects linked to the murder of two police officers on June 29, 2026 at Aluu were arrested, with two AK-47 rifles recovered.
- Five members of a kidnapping syndicate and two members of a one-chance robbery gang were also apprehended.
