Offiong Edem Foundation announces expanded table tennis event in Calabar
The Offiong Edem Foundation has revealed plans for the 6th edition of its annual Table Tennis Tournament in Calabar, Cross River State. The event will now feature four categories and a total prize pool of N3 million. Offiong Edem, a five-time Olympian and coach based in the United States, aims to support and discover young talents lacking access to quality equipment. The foundation has also distributed rackets and kits to over 50 participants to encourage their development.

- The 6th edition of the tournament will be held in Calabar, Cross River State, with four categories: Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, and Youth Open.
- Offiong Edem expanded the categories after observing a large turnout of young players, especially those aged seven to eight years.
- More than 50 young athletes, adults, and coaches received rackets and playing equipment from the foundation.
- Prize money has been increased by 15 percent, bringing the total to N3 million for this year’s tournament.
- Offiong Edem plans to personally sponsor three standout players to national tournaments twice a year for greater exposure.
