Two killed and houses burned in attacks on Plateau communities
Several Berom communities in Plateau State have suffered fresh attacks by gunmen, resulting in deaths, injuries, and property destruction. The Berom Youth Moulders-Association confirmed that two people were killed and one injured, with homes set ablaze across multiple villages. Bulus Mwagwong and Stephen Dachollom Kaze were named among the victims, while the association called for urgent security intervention. Residents have been urged to stay vigilant as authorities are pressed to respond.
What happened
- Gunmen attacked Gwa-Wereng Rim, Kyeng Village in Bachi District, Dorong, and Jol Village, killing two people and injuring one.
- Bulus Mwagwong, also known as Dikko, was killed in Gwa-Wereng Rim, and his cousin Yakubu was injured.
- Stephen Dachollom Kaze, aged 47, was killed in Kyeng Village, Bachi District.
- Attackers set houses ablaze in Dorong, forcing residents to flee, and exchanged gunfire with local vigilantes in Jol Village.
- The Berom Youth Moulders-Association condemned the attacks, urged increased security, and called for support for affected families.
