Ogun authorities shut down paper company over illegal waste site
Dahua Paper Company Limited in Owiwi Village, near Obada-Oko, Abeokuta, has been sealed by the Ogun State Waste Management Authority for allegedly running an illegal dumpsite and burning waste. The company is accused of violating the state’s Environmental and Public Health Law 2006 and Section 2(b)(a) of the OGWAMA Law 2020. Faruk Akintunde, Special Adviser to the Governor and Managing Director of OGWAMA, led the enforcement team and stated that the company’s actions threatened nearby communities and water sources. The authority confiscated lorries used for dumping waste and warned others against similar practices.
