Ten arrested in Osun for violent crimes and campus invasion
Four suspects, including Olufemi Olatunji and Adekunle Basirat, were arrested in Modakeke by the Osun State Police Command for alleged conspiracy, attempted murder, and possession of firearms. The arrests followed a petition to the Commissioner of Police and led to the recovery of two illegal guns. In a separate operation, six more suspects were apprehended for allegedly invading Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. Police say investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are assisting with inquiries.
What happened
- Olufemi Olatunji, Ajayi Idowu, Akingbala Oluwakemi, and Adekunle Basirat were arrested around 2am on August 9, 2026, in Modakeke for alleged violent crimes and firearm possession.
- Police recovered a locally made firearm from Basirat’s shop and a pump-action gun from Oluwakemi’s residence.
- Basirat and Oluwakemi were identified as the wives of known individuals, Solomon Akinlabi ("Indomine") and Akingbala Akindele ("Ostand"), respectively.
- Six suspects, including Ajoba Akorede and Adam Oseni, were arrested after an alleged armed invasion at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, resulting in injuries to two students.
- Police state that investigations are ongoing and efforts continue to apprehend additional suspects linked to the Modakeke incident.
