Young Arugba carries sacred calabash at Osun-Osogbo festival
Princess Alimot Moredeke Ajoke Osunbunmi, the 10-year-old Arugba of the Osun-Osogbo Festival, has carried the sacred calabash for the first time during the annual procession. Her selection as Arugba through traditional Ifa divination in March 2025 marked a significant moment, as she succeeded Osuntomi Ewatomi. Last year, due to her age, she was unable to carry the calabash herself. This year, she completed the traditional rites and fulfilled her role, drawing attention for being one of the youngest Arugbas in recent history.
