Police detain 11 suspects and recover 40 stolen animals in Jigawa
Eleven suspected cattle rustlers, including two nationals from Niger Republic, have been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command. The operation led to the recovery of 40 animals believed to have been stolen across four local government areas. SP Shi’isu Adam, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests and highlighted the role of local vigilantes in the operation. The suspects were apprehended before they could allegedly sell the stolen animals.
What happened
- The arrests took place in Gwiwa, Hadejia, Gwaram, and Taura Local Government Areas with the help of local vigilantes.
- SP Shi’isu Adam stated that the police recovered 27 sheep, 10 goats, and three cows, totaling 40 animals.
- Two vehicles allegedly used by the suspects were also recovered by the police.
- The suspects include Muhammad Musa, Musa Hassan, Auwalu Musa, Yahaya Abubakar, Abdullahi Amadu, Yahaya Musa, Yasir Muda, Salisu Aliyu, Sama’ila Amadu, Ibrahim Maikudi, and Bello Muhammad.
- The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism and warned criminals to desist from illegal activities.
