FG unveils plan for sports and education excellence centres
The Federal Government has announced a new initiative to establish eight Sports and Education Centres of Excellence in selected tertiary institutions. The programme, called the National Sports and Education Excellence Programme (N-SEEP), was unveiled in Abuja by Dr. Tunji Alausa and Shehu Dikko. It aims to integrate quality education with elite sports development, helping to retain Nigerian sporting talents and create jobs. The initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and seeks to position sports as a key contributor to economic growth.

- The National Sports and Education Excellence Programme is a joint effort by the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Sports Commission.
- The first phase will begin at the University of Ibadan, Ahmadu Bello University, Federal College of Education Okene, and Babcock University, with more centres to be added later.
