WAEC withholds results of over 167,000 candidates for exam malpractice
The West African Examinations Council has withheld the results of 167,486 candidates over alleged examination malpractice in the 2026 Computer-Based WASSCE for School Candidates. Dr Amos Dangut, Head of WAEC Nigeria National Office, announced the release of the results in Lagos on June 19, 2026. The council cited infractions such as the use of mobile phones and organised cheating as reasons for withholding results. The examination was conducted between April 24 and June 19, 2026, with several innovations introduced to improve the process.
