
Police arrest 13 suspects for robbery and vandalism in Abia
Abia Police Command has apprehended 13 male suspects aged between 20 and 27 for armed robbery, vandalism of government property, and unlawful possession of firearms. The arrests were announced by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka. Several weapons, ammunition, and other items were recovered during the operations. The police emphasized their ongoing commitment to combating crime and urged the public to assist with timely information.

- Uchenna Agbneiwu, aged 27, was arrested with a vandalised pipeline concealed in a bus.
- Williams Ifeanyi, aged 27, was apprehended after robbing a victim at gunpoint; a pistol and live cartridges were recovered.
- John Chigozie (25) and David Anyaka (26) were arrested for armed robbery at a hotel in Aba on 01/08/2026; a pistol and live ammunition were recovered.
- On 04/08/2026, members of a violent criminal group were arrested during a meeting in Umuezeagwu, Umuahia North, with weapons and suspected hard drugs seized.
- The police recovered locally made pistols, a Beretta pistol, a pump-action gun, live cartridges, a cutlass, an axe, walkie-talkies, face masks, and berets during the operations.
