Police recover N78m solar equipment and foil crime in Kaduna
The Kaduna State Police Command has disrupted several criminal operations, arresting 25 suspects linked to kidnapping, arms trafficking, counterfeit currency, and drug supply. The police recovered stolen solar equipment valued at about N78m, along with firearms, counterfeit US dollars, hard drugs, and rustled cattle. Rabiu Muhammad, the Commissioner of Police, said these achievements reflect the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks. Multiple breakthroughs included arrests for counterfeit currency, gunrunning, kidnapping, vehicle theft, and drug supply.
What happened
- Rabiu Muhammad announced the arrest of 25 suspects and the recovery of 10 firearms, 170 counterfeit US dollar notes, 83 packs of hard drugs, 32 stolen phones, two plasma TVs, a stolen Toyota Sienna, and over 400 rustled cattle.
- A 20-year-old woman, Aisha Barau, was arrested in Ramin Kura Village for allegedly attempting to exchange counterfeit currency, leading to further arrests in the syndicate.
- The Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested three suspected gunrunners in Jos, Plateau State, who allegedly supplied arms to northern Nigeria bandits.
- A suspected kidnap kingpin, Abdullahi Mohammed (“Aala”), was arrested in Kargi Village and confessed to multiple kidnappings and the killing of vigilante members.
- Police also foiled a cattle rustling operation in Damanko Village, recovered 190 solar inverters and 10 lithium batteries in Zaria, and arrested two suspected drug suppliers, Alex Odoh and Daniel Eze.
