
Thirty-two teams compete in Lagos Street Soccer S2 for N5m prize
Thirty-two teams are battling for a N5m prize in the second season of the Lagos Street Soccer Stars Oshodi tournament, which was unveiled by the Lagos State Government on August 2, 2026. The event, themed “Oshodi Hidden Talents,” aims to discover grassroots football talent and steer youths away from drug abuse. Organised by Adebanji Atewogboye in partnership with First Bank Nigeria Plc, the tournament is part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s grassroots sports development efforts. The competition will run until August 15, 2026.

- The tournament kicked off on August 2, 2026, with teams receiving playing kits for the two-week knockout event.
- Ayenigbara Samuel from the NDLEA sensitised participants against substance abuse during the unveiling.
- In the opening matches, Dosunmu Street beat Ariyibi Oke Street on penalties, Popoola Street defeated Adeyemo Street 2-1, and Olorunishola Street won 3-1 against Arowojobe Street.
- The event was attended by community leaders, coaches, residents, and APC officials including Saheed Animashaun and Mumuni Olori.
- The competition, sponsored by Sanwo-Olu, First Bank Nigeria Plc, King Ogunremi Foundation, and Dangote Salt Plc, will conclude on August 15, 2026.
