
Delta police arrest five suspects and recover stolen motorcycles
Three suspected stolen motorcycles and three pump-action guns have been recovered by the Delta State Police Command. Five suspects were arrested in separate operations targeting violent crime across the state. SP Bright Edafe and CP Yemi Oyeniyi highlighted the success of the operations and urged continued public cooperation. Two major incidents led to the arrests and recovery of weapons and stolen property.
What happened
- On July 27, 2026, Joseph Tyavzua was arrested along the Asaba–Onitsha Expressway with a pump-action gun during a stop-and-search by ‘C’ Division, Asaba.
- The suspect claimed to be a vigilante but could not provide lawful authority for possessing the firearm.
- On July 27, 2026, a separate operation in Effurun led to the arrest of Edodo Gift (41) and Emoefe Solomon (27) for the armed robbery of a motorcycle rider.
- The suspects confessed and led police to two suspected receivers, Fodio Bello (27) and Kabiru Mohammed (25), resulting in the recovery of two more pump-action guns and three motorcycles.
- CP Yemi Oyeniyi commended the officers and encouraged residents to provide credible information to help keep Delta State safe.
