Fifteen killed in suspected herders’ attack on Benue community
In the early hours of Tuesday, suspected armed herders attacked Efeyi community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, resulting in multiple deaths. Locals reported that the attackers stormed the area around 5am, shooting sporadically and causing panic. Maxwell Ogiri, chairman of Otukpo LGA, confirmed the incident and described the attack as unprovoked. Hyacinth Alia, the Benue State Governor, expressed grief and commended security agents for their response.
What happened
- Suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded Efeyi community at about 5am, killing at least 14 to 15 people, according to local sources and officials.
