NDLEA arrests several suspects in major drug and ammunition busts
A series of operations by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have led to the arrest of multiple suspects and the seizure of large quantities of drugs and ammunition. Onuigbo Chinedu, a Lagos businessman, was apprehended for attempting to export cocaine to the United Kingdom. Other individuals, including Emmanuella Chukwu-Edo, Mustapha Sani, and Abubakar Amadu, were also arrested in connection with drug trafficking and possession of ammunition. Several raids across Lagos, Katsina, and Edo states resulted in significant seizures and further arrests. The NDLEA continues its efforts to curb illicit drug trafficking and related crimes.
What happened
- Onuigbo Chinedu was arrested on Thursday, 23rd July 2026 after NDLEA intercepted 3.30kg of cocaine concealed in cartons at the Lagos airport.
- Three cargo agents—Nkwor Onyekachukwu Justina, Adeleke Abiola Taoheed, and Ukanwa Grace Pilgrim—were initially detained, leading to the arrest of Kenneth Okakpu.
- Emmanuella Chukwu-Edo was arrested on Tuesday, 21st July at her Surulere residence after her 2.80kg consignment of Loud arrived from the US on Monday, 20th July.
- At the Lagos airport, NDLEA recovered 2.24 million pills of Tapentadol from a shipment from India on Friday, 24th July; a tramadol consignment was also seized on Wednesday, 22nd July.
- In Edo State, a warehouse raid on Sunday, 19th July led to the seizure of 1,286kg of cannabis, while Ojore Onweze and George Agwumede were arrested with additional quantities.
