
NDLEA arrests Lagos businessman and others in major drug busts
Three major drug trafficking cases have been uncovered by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, involving several suspects and large quantities of illicit substances. Onuigbo Ndubisi Chinedu, a Lagos businessman, was arrested after attempting to export cocaine to the United Kingdom. Other arrests included Emmanuella Chukwu-Edo for cannabis importation and seizures of pills and ammunition in multiple states. The operations led to the confiscation of drugs worth billions of naira and the arrest of several individuals across different locations on July 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24, 2026.
What happened
- Onuigbo Ndubisi Chinedu was arrested on July 23, 2026, after NDLEA intercepted 3.3kg of cocaine at Lagos airport the previous day, July 22, 2026.
- Three cargo agents—Nkwor Onyekachukwu Justina, Adeleke Abiola Taoheed, and Ukanwa Grace Pilgrim—were initially arrested, leading to the arrest of Kenneth Okakpu who delivered the consignment.
- Emmanuella Chukwu-Edo was arrested on July 21, 2026, after her 2.8kg cannabis shipment arrived from the US on July 20, 2026.
- NDLEA recovered 2.24 million pills of Tapentadol from a shipment from India on July 24, 2026, and intercepted tramadol in Lagos on July 22, 2026.
- At Apapa seaport, officers uncovered 2,388.5kg of Canadian Loud on July 20, 2026; in Edo state, a warehouse raid on July 19, 2026 led to the seizure of 1,286kg of cannabis and 86kg of seeds.
