
Police arrest suspects for theft and vandalism in Akwa Ibom
Three suspects have been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for theft and vandalism. Emmanuel Etim, 23, was apprehended while trying to sell a stolen block moulding machine worth over N2 million. Another suspect, Nsidibe Benson, 46, was caught at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic after allegedly vandalising property. The police have recovered stolen items and are working to arrest other gang members.
What happened
- Emmanuel Etim was arrested for allegedly stealing an industrial block moulding machine vibrator valued at over N2 million from the Ikot Ekpene International Market.
- The stolen machine was recovered, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices who are still at large.
- Nsidibe Benson was arrested on July 19, 2026, at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, after a distress call reported vandalism.
- Recovered exhibits from Nsidibe Benson include aluminium window frames and electrical cables, and he confessed to the crime during interrogation.
