Ecowas leaders sign deal to advance Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline
The proposed African Atlantic Gas Pipeline has taken a major step forward after Heads of State of the Economic Community of West African States signed an Intergovernmental Agreement for the project at the ECOWAS Summit in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The pipeline aims to link Nigeria’s gas resources with markets in West Africa, the Sahel, Morocco, and Europe. The project is jointly promoted by NNPC Limited and Morocco’s Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines, and is expected to significantly boost energy access and industrialisation across the region. The pipeline will also create a new energy corridor for African gas to reach Morocco and European markets.
