Four Abuja police officers arrested for extorting ICPC chairman
Four police officers have been arrested in Abuja for allegedly extorting Dr Musa Aliyu (SAN), the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission. The officers reportedly forced Dr Musa Aliyu to withdraw N53,000 at a Point of Sale operator during an illegal stop-and-search operation. Ahmed Sanusi, the FCT Commissioner of Police, described the officers as “thieves” and confirmed their detention. The police have promised strict disciplinary action against the culprits.
