
Police arrest second suspect in Bayelsa bridge vandalism case
Three suspects have been linked to the vandalism of the Angiama–Oporoma Bridge in Bayelsa State. DSP Musa Mohammed confirmed the arrest of the first suspect, Daniel Tarila, who was found with iron plates allegedly taken from the bridge. The second suspect, Peres Daniel, was apprehended after initially evading arrest. CP Iyamah Daniel Edebor emphasized the police’s commitment to protecting public infrastructure.
What happened
- Daniel Tarila, 26, was arrested on July 3 with two iron plates reportedly removed from the bridge.
- Peres Daniel, 31, was apprehended on July 14 at about 5 p.m. on Obele Street in Yenagoa.
- The arrests followed intelligence-led operations by the State Criminal Investigation Department.
- Daniel Tarila has been remanded at the Okaka Custodial Centre pending further legal proceedings.
