Supreme Court upholds forfeiture of Emefiele’s assets and $2m to FG
Godwin Emefiele, former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has lost ownership of seven properties, $2.045 million, and share certificates to the Federal Government. The Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, affirmed the final forfeiture and set aside an earlier judgment by the Court of Appeal. The assets were found to be reasonably suspected of being acquired through unlawful activities. The case is one of several legal proceedings against Emefiele following his removal as CBN governor.
