Sokoto upgrades 75 health centres in safe delivery programme
Governor Ahmed Aliyu and the Sokoto State Government have launched the third phase of the Safe Delivery Initiative, upgrading 75 Primary Healthcare Centres across 23 local government areas. The initiative aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality by ensuring more facilities meet national standards for safe delivery services. Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar highlighted that the programme is funded through better resource management rather than new taxes or borrowing. More than 17,100 pregnant women have already been enrolled for free maternal healthcare under the initiative.
