
Navy arrests man with suspected drugs and hands him to NDLEA in Anambra

The Nigerian Navy has arrested a 44-year-old man, Chukwu Obas, in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State for alleged drug trafficking. The suspect was apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation and later handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Onitsha Area Command. Items recovered from Chukwu Obas included packs of expired Viagra, herbal roots, and a bottle containing a suspected illicit substance. The Navy believes he may provide intelligence on the drug distribution network in the area.
What happened
- Chukwu Obas was arrested by the Nigerian Navy at Uga Junction in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
- He was formally handed over to the NDLEA by Commander Kabir Yusuf at the Naval Outpost, Onitsha.
- The Navy recovered 30 packs of expired Mamagra Viagra, 100 packs of FIKA Viagra, herbal roots, and a one-litre bottle of suspected illicit liquid from the suspect.
- Preliminary investigations indicated the drugs were purchased at Ogbo-Ogwu Market, Onitsha, and were to be distributed in Orsumoghu Community.
- The Navy suspects Chukwu Obas could help uncover the source of the drugs and expose others involved in the illegal network.
