
Police rescue kidnapped girl and arrest two suspects in Oyo
A five-year-old girl, Fikayo Gbemiga, has been rescued by the Oyo State Police Command after being abducted from her home. Two suspects, Seyi Adegboye and Adefemi Adegboye, were arrested following a police operation. The suspects had allegedly demanded a N10 million ransom from the family and had already collected N1 million. Police say the suspects are cooperating with the investigation, and efforts are ongoing to recover the ransom and apprehend other accomplices.
What happened
- Fikayo Gbemiga was abducted from her residence at Iyana Offa in Lagelu Local Government Area.
- The suspects, Seyi Adegboye and Adefemi Adegboye, were arrested on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at about 10:30 p.m. in the Mojoyin Molade area of Iwo Road, Ibadan.
- The police rescued the victim unharmed at about 10:35 p.m. the same night.
- The suspects had previously received N1 million as ransom in Gbongan, Osun State, penultimate Wednesday.
- Police are working to recover the ransom and arrest other members of the kidnapping syndicate.
