
Amotekun arrests couple and 44 others for various crimes in Ondo
A couple, Samson Osowe and Ayo Oguneso, have been arrested by the Ondo State Amotekun Corps for allegedly burgling the residence of former Speaker Jumoke Akindele. The pair were among 46 suspects paraded for different offences across the state. The Amotekun Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, stated that stolen items, including mobile phones, were recovered and an attempt to smuggle them to Lagos was foiled. Other suspects were linked to kidnapping, anti-open grazing law violations, cultism, and illegal possession of arms.
What happened
- Samson Osowe and his wife, Ayo Oguneso, were arrested for allegedly burgling the home of ex-Speaker Jumoke Akindele in Okitipupa.
- Seven stolen mobile phones and other valuables were recovered, and a transporter involved in smuggling the items to Lagos was also apprehended.
- Out of 46 suspects, 13 were linked to kidnapping, two to anti-open grazing law violations, and 31 to various other crimes such as cultism and illegal possession of firearms.
- Suspected kidnappers were arrested in the Government Reserve Area of Owo and other locations, with several named individuals detained.
- The Amotekun Corps emphasized their ongoing commitment to security across all 18 local government areas in the state.
