
Police arrest two for theft of government property in Abia
Two suspects have been arrested by the Abia State Police Command for allegedly vandalising and stealing government property along the Umuahia-Uzuakoli Road. The suspects, Emmanuel Ogonna and Ifeanychukwu Oko, were apprehended by police operatives during a stop-and-search operation. Items such as angle irons, saws, spanners, iron boards, and electrical poles were recovered from them. The police have transferred the case for further investigation and prosecution.
What happened
- The suspects, Emmanuel Ogonna (23) and Ifeanychukwu Oko (25), are both from Lohom, Uzuakoli, in Bende Local Government Area.
- Police recovered 49 pieces of angle irons, two saws, three spanners, three small iron boards, and 86 electrical poles from the suspects.
- The arrests were made by operatives of the Mike Okiro Divisional Police Headquarters along Uzuakoli Road on 19/06/2026.
- The suspects confessed to vandalising and stealing the recovered items.
- Danladi Isa, the Abia Commissioner of Police, urged the public to support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities.
