
Eight sentenced to community service for illegal waste disposal in Ogun
A Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta has convicted eight people for dumping refuse in public places. The offenders were caught dumping waste at various locations in the city and were prosecuted by the Ogun State Waste Management Authority. Justice A.K. Araba found them guilty and ordered them to serve community service within the court premises. The court also warned that repeat offenders would face imprisonment without the option of a fine.
What happened
- Eight individuals were convicted for indiscriminate waste disposal in the Abeokuta metropolis.
- The offenders were apprehended between 6:15 a.m. and 8:05 a.m. at Isale-Igbein, Car-Wash, and Abiola Way.
- Justice A.K. Araba ordered them to serve community service within the Isabo Magistrate Court premises, with their photographs displayed on the court’s notice board.
- The convicted are Oyebanjo Abidemi, Aminat Adewusi, Aminat Olarewaju, Omolana Olusola, Abiola Moridiya, Olaogun Mary, Abiodun Aromokun, and Iwenya Sylvester.
- The Special Adviser to the Governor, Farouk l Akintunde, praised the ruling and warned that future offenders would face stricter penalties.
