
Two suspects arrested after woman’s body found in Anambra culvert

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 33-year-old woman in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area. According to police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the woman was lured to a residence and killed, with her body later found near Jesus Bus Stop. The suspects, Thankgod Ikechukwu Ikwugwara and Makuochukwu Uzoigwe, have reportedly confessed to the crime.
What happened
- The case began on March 13, 2026, when the deceased’s mother reported her missing at the Oraifite Divisional Police Headquarters.
- The woman’s body was discovered in a culvert near Jesus Bus Stop, Oraifite, on March 14, 2026, and later identified by her father.
- Police arrested Thankgod Ikechukwu Ikwugwara, 26, and Makuochukwu Uzoigwe, 20, on June 6, 2026, after forensic analysis linked them to the crime.
- Ikwugwara confessed to plotting the attack after a personal dispute and lured the victim to his residence before killing her with the help of the second suspect.
- The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, praised detectives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to justice.
