
Police arrest two for fake alcohol production in Anambra
Two suspects have been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly producing and distributing fake alcoholic drinks. The suspects, Ikechukwu Okeke and Okeke Chukwuemeka, were apprehended after police received credible intelligence. Several brands of adulterated alcohol and dangerous chemicals were recovered from their mini-factory. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover more members of the syndicate.
What happened
- Ikechukwu Okeke, 42, and Okeke Chukwuemeka, 38, were arrested in the early hours of 15th June 2026 by the Rapid Response Squad/VCRU.
- The suspects reportedly confessed and led police to their mini-factory where fake alcoholic drinks and chemicals were found.
- Brands recovered include Seaman’s Schnapps, McDowell’s, Eagle Schnapps, Elliot Hot Drinks, and Baileys Fresh Cream.
- Numerous empty bottles, labels, and packaging materials were also seized by the police.
- The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives and warned others involved in similar crimes.
