
Two arrested for making fake alcoholic drinks in Anambra
Three to four sentences introducing the story. Ikechukwu Okeke and Okeke Chukwuemeka were arrested by the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly producing and distributing fake alcoholic beverages. The arrests were made after credible intelligence led police to their mini-factory, where various counterfeit drinks and chemicals were recovered. According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects confessed and are currently in police custody. The police are continuing investigations to find other members of the syndicate.
What happened
- Ikechukwu Okeke, 42, and Okeke Chukwuemeka, 38, were arrested in the early hours of June 15, 2026 for allegedly producing adulterated alcoholic beverages.
- Police recovered fake products such as Seaman’s Schnapps, McDowell’s, Eagle Schnapps, Elliot Hot Drinks, and Baileys Fresh Cream, along with dangerous chemicals.
- The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and led police to their mini-factory.
- Numerous empty bottles, labels, and packaging materials were also seized during the operation.
- The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the officers and warned against producing counterfeit consumables.
