Nigeria launches new HIV strategy to boost local funding
The Federal Government has introduced a new National HIV and AIDS Strategic Plan (NSP) 2026–2030 to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on donor support for HIV programmes. Dr Temitope Ilori, Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, emphasized the need for a sustainable, country-led approach. The plan was developed with input from government agencies, civil society, and people living with HIV. It aims to integrate HIV services into broader sectors and promote inclusivity for vulnerable groups.
