Police stop kidnap attempt targeting Chinese national in Ogun
Officers of the Obalende Division of the Ogun State Police Command have prevented a planned abduction of a Chinese national. Two suspects, Chinedu Onwuemena and Jimoh Ojo, were arrested after police received intelligence about the plot. The police say one of the suspects used his position within the victim’s company to aid the plan. The operation was praised by the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, for its swift and professional execution.

- Chinedu Onwuemena, 41, and Jimoh Ojo, 37, were apprehended on June 9, 2026, after police received intelligence about a kidnapping plot along the Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu Expressway.
- The suspects allegedly conspired to abduct a Chinese national and demand a ₦50 million ransom.
- One suspect reportedly used his role as an interpreter and driver within the victim’s company to facilitate the plan.
- Police say another accomplice is on the run, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him.
- The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
