Police parade suspects after Ibadan kidnapping rescue
Four suspects have been paraded by the Oyo State Police Command in connection with the abduction of Mrs Busola Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister Bayo Adelabu, and her twin sons. The victims were rescued following a coordinated police operation at a hideout in Araromi Quarters, Ayegun North, Ibadan. The police recovered weapons, a vehicle, and other items from the suspects. Commissioner Oluwagbemiga Abimbola urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
What happened
- Mrs Busola Adegoke John-Paul and her twin sons were abducted at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3 along Elewura Street, Ibadan, while heading to school.
- The police launched an intelligence-driven operation, leading to the arrest of suspects including Wale Abolalewa (‘Oloro’) and Dare Oyedele (‘Solution’).
- The rescue mission took place on June 6 at about 7:30 p.m., during which two gang members were neutralised after opening fire on the police.
- Items recovered included three pump-action rifles, live cartridges, a Toyota Corolla, criminal charms, and hard drugs.
- The police commissioner called on the public and healthcare workers to report anyone with suspicious gunshot wounds, as some gang members escaped and may be injured.
