Edo NDLEA arrests 48 for drug trafficking, seizes over 500kg of drugs
The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested 48 suspected drug traffickers and seized a large quantity of illicit drugs as part of its ongoing operations. State Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju revealed that the arrests included both males and females, with operations targeting drug hotspots across the state. Various substances were confiscated, and several suspects were apprehended with significant amounts of drugs. The command also reported progress in court cases and ongoing efforts in drug abuse prevention and rehabilitation.

- The command seized 541.47 kilogrammes of illicit drugs, with Cannabis sativa making up the majority of the haul.
- Notable arrests included suspects like Lucky Omen, Joseph Osin, Prince Aniete, and Esther Okes, each found with various quantities of drugs.
- The legal unit secured three convictions and filed five new cases, with 94 drug-related cases currently pending before the Federal High Court in Benin City.
- The command counselled 31 clients and organised five drug abuse sensitisation programmes, while eight individuals are undergoing rehabilitation.
