NDLEA arrests 48 in Edo and seizes over 500kg of drugs
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Edo State Command, has arrested 48 suspected drug traffickers and seized 541.47 kilogrammes of drugs in its ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking. According to the command, the arrests included both male and female suspects caught at various drug hotspots across the state. The agency also reported several court convictions, ongoing cases, and efforts in drug demand reduction. Ofoyeju, the state commander, praised the dedication of his officers and urged the public to support the fight against drug abuse.

- A total of 541.47kg of narcotic drugs were seized, with cannabis sativa making up the majority of the haul.
- Notable arrests included Lucky Omen, Joseph Osin, Prince Aniete, and Esther Okes, each found with varying quantities of drugs.
- The command’s legal unit secured three convictions, filed five new cases, and has 94 cases pending at the Federal High Court in Benin City.
- The agency also counselled 31 clients and conducted five sensitisation programmes to combat drug abuse in the community.
