NDLEA intercepts ammunition and drugs in multiple state operations
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have seized military-grade ammunition and large quantities of drugs in coordinated raids across several states. Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, detailed the arrests and seizures, including the interception of a suspect transporting ammunition and the arrest of a couple linked to over a tonne of cannabis. The agency also uncovered illicit drugs concealed in imported machines and made further arrests in connection with drug trafficking. Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.) commended the officers involved and encouraged continued efforts in drug control and public sensitisation.
What happened
- NDLEA operatives intercepted 380 rounds of 7.62mm military-grade ammunition along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway at Jere on May 24, arresting Sunusi Musa.
- A couple, Musa Sunday and Mercy Sunday, along with Salomi Ezekiel, were arrested after 1,246 kilograms of skunk were seized from their home in Gonin Gora, Kaduna on May 24.
- In Lagos, NDLEA officers discovered three kilograms of ketamine and 199 grams of MDMA hidden in water purifier machines at a courier company on May 26.
- In Niger State, 457 kilograms of skunk were recovered from a warehouse in Gidan Kukah, Bosso LGA, and Godwin Zakka was arrested on May 27.
- NDLEA operatives in Enugu State intercepted a vehicle and recovered tramadol, pentazocine, and bromazepam, arresting James Maigari Wisdom on May 28.
