NDLEA uncovers drugs hidden in imported water purifiers
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have discovered illicit drugs hidden in water purifier machines shipped from the Netherlands. The agency carried out coordinated operations leading to arrests and seizures in Kaduna, Niger, and Enugu states. Femi Babafemi released a statement detailing the agency’s actions and successes. Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) commended officers for their ongoing efforts against drug trafficking.
What happened
- The NDLEA found 3 kilograms of ketamine and 199 grams of MDMA hidden in water purifiers at a courier company on May 26, 2026.
- In Kaduna State, operatives arrested Musa Sunday, Mercy Sunday, and Salomi Ezekiel after seizing 1,246 kilograms of skunk from their residence in Gonin Gora on May 24.
- On the same day, Sunusi Musa was intercepted with 380 rounds of military-grade ammunition on the Abuja–Kaduna highway at Jere.
- In Niger State, a raid on May 27 in Gidan Kukah led to the recovery of 457 kilograms of skunk and the arrest of Godwin Zakka.
- On May 28 in Enugu State, officers seized tramadol, pentazocine, and bromazepam from a commercial vehicle and arrested James Maigari Wisdom.
