Massob praises strong sit-at-home response for Biafra Day
The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra has commended residents in the South-East and parts of the South-South for observing its sit-at-home directive to mark the 59th anniversary of Biafra’s declaration. In a statement issued on Saturday, May 30, 2026, MASSOB leader Uchenna Madu described the action as a show of patriotism and remembrance for those lost in the Nigerian Civil War. The group emphasized its commitment to non-violence and urged churches to hold memorial services and prayers. The Nigerian Army, however, warned that the directive was illegal and should be ignored.
