Five arrested for kidnapping two children in Ondo
The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended five men accused of kidnapping two school children in Ore. According to the police, the suspects allegedly abducted the children and collected ransom before their arrest. DSP Abayomi Jimoh named the suspects and detailed the operation, which involved intelligence-led tactics. The police also recovered a sum believed to be part of the ransom and are pursuing other members of the gang.
What happened
- Jehu, 10, and Yohana, 5, were kidnapped on their way to school in the Jerry Sawmill Area of Ore on May 12, 2026.
- Their father, Andrew Yohana, reported the incident to the police at about 9:00 a.m, prompting an immediate investigation.
- The Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad arrested five suspects: Taofeek Lukman, Blessing Saturday, Peter Moses, Sunday Isaac, and Sanusi Dan Asabe.
- Police recovered N251,000 suspected to be part of the ransom paid by the victims’ family.
- Commissioner Felix Ohagwu praised the operatives and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to fighting kidnapping and violent crimes.
