
Police neutralise two bandits and recover explosives in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has neutralised two bandits and recovered explosives in Bungudu Local Government Area. According to spokesperson DSP Yazoo Abubakar, the police responded swiftly to an attack by armed hoodlums and engaged them in a gun duel. A vigilante member, Kabiru Auwal, sustained a gunshot injury and is receiving treatment. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello, praised the operatives for their bravery and urged the public to support security agencies.
What happened
- On 26th May, 2026, armed hoodlums invaded the Funture area of Rugar Buda Village in Bungudu Emirate, leading to a police response and the neutralisation of two bandits.
- A vigilante member, Kabiru Auwal, was injured during the encounter and is currently being treated in the hospital.
- On 25th May, 2026, the Violent Crime Response Unit and EOD-CBRN Team detected and neutralised a pressure plate Improvised Explosive Device along Bilbis–Kuncin Kalgo Road.
- The explosive device was safely demolished, and the area was declared safe for public movement.
- CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello commended the officers’ professionalism and called for continued public support for security operations.
