
NDLEA arrests Chinese woman and seizes drugs in multiple operations
Three major drug busts have been carried out by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, including the arrest of a 63-year-old Chinese woman, Ting Kiong, at Lagos airport. The agency intercepted large quantities of illicit drugs at various airports and locations across Nigeria. NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised the officers for their efforts and urged them to continue their fight against drug trafficking. Several suspects were apprehended and significant drug consignments were recovered.
What happened
- Ting Kiong was arrested on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with 31kg of Canadian Loud.
- Another shipment containing 1,825,710 tablets of Tapentadol, worth over N2 billion, was handed over to NDLEA by Customs on Friday, 22nd May 2026.
- At Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, Onyeka Valentine Emeka was arrested on May 20 after excreting 185.36 grams of cocaine.
- Babatunde Prosper Afekhide was arrested at Abuja airport on Wednesday, 21st May with thousands of opioid pills hidden in his luggage.
- Additional drug seizures and arrests occurred in Edo, Kano, Lagos, and Ekiti States between May 19 and May 23, with large quantities of skunk, cannabis seeds, and pills recovered.
